Google Pixel XE just leaked — but there’s a catch
Google Pixel XE simply leaked — but at that place's a grab

This has been a proficient year for the Google Pixel lineup, with the launch of the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel five. Nosotros've even heard rumors virtually a Pixel 5 Pro, which may get in next March.
Only a new rumor has striking the web today, and it involves a totally new Pixel phone — a Pixel XE. The simply problem is, we have some doubts as to whether this leak is legit or not.
- These are the best Android phones you lot tin can buy now
- Google Pixel five is my favorite telephone — here'southward why
- Plus: PS5 storage upgrade is going to be stupidly expensive
The first clue that this telephone is coming is a screenshot discovered by Tom's Hardware, showing the "About" menu of an Android telephone'south settings. The phone is referred to equally "Google Pixel XE" twice — once under "Device name" at the acme and once again as "Model & hardware" toward the bottom. While you can change a telephone's name to whatever you like, the same doesn't seem to be true of the Model.
The superlative left corner of this screenshot besides seems to evidence that this device has eight cores, and then if it really is a Pixel XE, it's not likely to be an ultra-cheap device that sits beneath the Pixel 4a in Google'due south phone lineup. The mystery device is also running Android 11, and but a scattering of devices accept admission to that. All this assumes that the epitome hasn't been altered in some way.
Some other set of images come from SlashLeaks, showing off a very blurry phone that is also reportedly called the Google Pixel XE. Crucially, though, we don't actually see the model proper name, or what version of Android it's running — just the name of the telephone.
As previously mentioned, the name of the phone can be anything you like — fifty-fifty "Babe Yoda" if you're then inclined. So the SlashLeaks images evidence absolutely nothing, and the fact nosotros can't see the model number is a piffling flake suspicious.
Interestingl, the front camera is in the centre of the screen, while the recent slate of Pixel phones have their front cameras in the top left corner of the brandish. The shut-up image seems to prove Pixel Launcher icons, just in that location'southward no camera in sight, and it has us skeptical almost whether it's even the same phone
Nosotros can't verify where these images actually came from, and who's responsible for them, and so we can't say with any certainty how trustworthy they are. There's a lot of reason to doubt them, and fifty-fifty if the Pixel XE is real, we wouldn't put coin on this beingness it — not unless we see some more convincing evidence.
